An interesting truth about this dream: It was an accident. Being an artist was not part of my life plan by any stretch of the imagination. Until age 33, I was one of those people who said “I don’t have an artistic bone in my body”. Sound familiar?

Please join me tomorrow for the first 2024 TUNE IN TUES @TWO art demo where I’ll show you how to create elegant, yet simple collage papers using only crayons and almost any type of paper.

As is ALWAYS the case before I start learning a new paper, I think to myself “oh this will be easy peasy”, and that is rarely the case. Although the supplies are simple, it took quite a few trys before I got papers that I’d want to show you AND use in a collage.

As I moved through Days 55 - 68 of #the100dayproje

As I moved through Days 55 - 68 of #the100dayproject, this continues to evolve as my collages become more complex. How?

I started the project wanting to bring collage making back into daily life.

So I vowed to make a 15 minute collage a day, and in the beginning that worked beautifully.

However the more I got into the project, the more my collages evolved into a more complex expression of my voice. And it was impossible to create one in just 15 minutes.

However since my time is still very limited, I’ve modified the “rules”. I keep reminding myself that I’m in charge of this project, and this is supposed to serve me, not be a daily chore. So changing as I learn what works and doesn’t is a vital part of this project.

My new and improved guidelines are . . .
* Create for 100 days, but not necessarily on consecutive days
* Allow a single collage to take more than 1 day to complete
* Create no more than 30 minutes on a single day

This feels so much more spacious, and kind. This is still meeting my primary intention of bringing (almost) daily art making back into my life. And now I can breathe again, rather than pushing myself to FINISH a collage every day.

Now on Day 66 of #the100dayproject, my pace is slo

Now on Day 66 of #the100dayproject, my pace is slowing a tad as other parts of my life begin to demand attention. So although I might not create all 100 collages in 100 days, I absolutely WILL create 100 collages.

At the moment, these little cuties need to fit around other parts of my art business, such as putting together live workshops for Italy and Asheville. All good things, but they take LOTS of time to put together.

TUNE IN TUES Live on YouTube is coming back in just 12 days - Yikes! I gotta get filming and quick!

When you watch a YouTube video, it takes somewhere between 10-20 minutes, right?.

Filming that same video takes many days! Why?

Here are the steps to create every one of my paper demo videos:
1. Find a paper (lots of research!)
2. Learn to create the paper (I rarely know how to make each week’s paper before I dive into making it)
3. Set up demo so viewers can easily follow what I’m showing
4. Create a thumbnail, video description and supplies list with links.
6. Conduct the demo LIVE on YouTube
7. Edit video demo and post it to YouTube, along with a short.
8. Promote the new video demo in my newsletter and IG reels
9. Add video to my blog on website

I’m out of breath just typing all the steps!

As I start this process with my first demo for 2024 scheduled to go live April 30, I hope you will enjoy one of my most viewed TUNEIN TUES demos from last year - Dendritic paper.
